How to Get to the Symposium Site

From the International Iasi Airport:

From the Iasi airport you can take a taxi; currently they charge 1,3 RON/km. The cost to the University should be about 13 RON ( 1 US$ = 2,5 RON, 1 Euro = 3,4 RON). From Iasi Main Train Station:

The main railway station is marked R1 on the map. You can take a taxi; currently they charge 1,3 RON/km. The cost to the University should be about 6 RON. Walking (uphill) to the symposium site would take about 25 minutes.

Getting from Bucharest to Iasi

By plane:

From the "Henri Coanda" (Otopeni) Airport in Bucharest there are flights to Iasi. 

There are several possibilities for transport from/to the airport:

Express bus 783 connects the "Henri Coanda" (Otopeni) International Airport to Bucharest downtown (approx. 40 min).

 

The stops are:

BANEASA Airport;
Piata Presei Libere;
Piata Victoriei;
Piata Romana;
Piata Universitatii;
Piata Unirii;

Airport stops: in front of ARRIVALS /DEPARTURES Terminal.
Cost: 2,5 RON - magnetic card / two trips. The cards can be purchased from the kiosk located in front of the ARRIVALS Terminal, open daily 06:00 - 20:30.

Expres 783 schedule:

Monday - Friday 5:30 - 23:40 (at every 15 min)
Saturday, Sunday, Legal Holidays 5:30 - 23:30 (at every 30 min)

There are subway links between Piata Victoriei, Piata Romana, Piata Universitatii, Piata Unirii and North Railway Station.

By train:

There are several possibilities for transport from/to the airport. Express 783 is connecting Bucharest "Henri Coanda" International Airport with the center of Bucharest (aprox. 40. min.) . The stops are:

By train, the journey from Bucharest to Iasi is of about 6 hours. The price of a first class, one way, train ticket is about 100 RON.

The distance between Bucharest and Iasi is about 400 km.

The price of a ticket is 1 RON and it can be bought from special booths or from the driver.

Taxi
Current daytime rate is 1,3 RON /km . Some extra charges may apply for night or weekend transportation.

Weather : At the beginning of July the weather is fine, only some scattered showers and the average temperature is about 30 C.

Time Zone: Eastern European Time (Summer: UTC+3).

Currency: The local currency is Romanian Lei (RON). The approximate exchange rate is about 2,5 RON for 1 US$ and 3,4 RON for 1 €. For various transactions and money exchange, we recommend you to contact only authorized institutions, such as banks or exchange offices. Foreign exchange facilities are available at Otopeni Airport, main railway stations and in most hotels in Bucharest and Iasi. VISA and Travelers Checks are accepted at most banks.

Language: Romanian (a Latin family language) is spoken throughout Romania; you will easily find English speakers. Most of the hotel and restaurant staff speaks English.

Electricity: Electricity is supplied at: 220 volts / 50 Hz.

Internet Access: During the conference, computers with Internet access will be available at the Conference Centre. They are reserved for participants to read and send e-mails, view conference related or other web sites. You may also use commercial Internet Café’s at a rate of about 2 RON/h.
